About This Location

Cameron Prairie NWR protects over 24,000 acres of Gulf Coast prairie, marsh, and wetland habitats in southwestern Louisiana. The refuge is a waterfowl paradise in winter, with hundreds of thousands of ducks and geese, plus spectacular flocks of Roseate Spoonbills and other wading birds.

The Pintail Wildlife Drive provides excellent roadside birding, and the Gulf Creole Nature Trail connects Cameron Prairie with several other refuges in the area. Louisiana's Creole Nature Trail has been designated an All-American Road for its wildlife viewing opportunities.
