About This Location

PEI National Park stretches along 60 kilometers of the island's north shore, protecting red sandstone cliffs, sand dunes, barrier islands, and salt marshes that provide critical habitat for the endangered Piping Plover and other coastal species.

The park's diverse shoreline habitats attract shorebirds during migration, while the coastal forests and wetlands support breeding Great Blue Herons (a large heronry exists nearby), Bald Eagles, and various songbirds. The Brackley Marsh and Covehead areas are particularly productive for birders.
